Julaine Pre-Treatment Guidance

To prepare for your Julaine appointment at Skin Medical:

• Arrive with clean skin, free from make-up or skincare products in the treatment area
• Eat before your appointment to ensure comfort during treatment
• Avoid blood-thinning medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen where possible, unless prescribed by your doctor
• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment to minimise the risk of bruising and swelling
• Stay well hydrated in the days leading up to your visit
• Inform Dr Karim of any previous facial or injectable treatments, medical conditions or medications at your consultation

During your appointment:

• Clinical photographs and consent will be completed before treatment
• The treatment area will be assessed, marked and cleansed
• Local anaesthetic will be used to ensure comfort throughout the procedure
• Treatment time is typically 30 to 60 minutes depending on the areas being treated

What to Expect Immediately After Julaine

Julaine is a well-tolerated injectable procedure with a straightforward recovery for most patients.

You may experience:

• Swelling, redness and mild bruising at and around the injection sites
• Tenderness or sensitivity in the treated area for the first few days
• Temporary firmness or small lumps beneath the skin as the product settles, which is a normal and expected part of early recovery

Because Julaine works by stimulating your body’s own collagen production rather than adding immediate volume, the treated area will return to a more natural appearance once post-treatment swelling has resolved. Progressive improvements will then develop gradually over the following weeks and months.

Julaine Post-Treatment Care

To support your recovery and help achieve the best possible outcome from your Julaine treatment, please follow these aftercare instructions carefully.

• Massage the treated area as advised by Dr Karim. Gentle massage helps with product distribution and supports even collagen stimulation
• Avoid touching, rubbing or applying pressure to the treated area for the first 24 hours
• Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot tubs and activities that raise your body temperature for 24 hours post-treatment
• Avoid extreme heat, UV exposure, sunbeds, swimming pools and hot baths until any swelling and redness have settled
• Avoid laser treatments, chemical peels and skin resurfacing treatments in the treated area for at least two weeks after treatment
• Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or above on any exposed treated areas
• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours post-treatment to reduce bruising and swelling
• Do not apply make-up for 24 hours; when you do restart, use clean brushes or new sponges to minimise any risk of infection
• Apply a cold compress if needed to help reduce swelling, but do not place it directly onto the skin
• Paracetamol may be taken if needed for discomfort. Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen and other anti-inflammatory medications for 24 hours as these may worsen bruising
• Stay well hydrated, as good hydration supports the collagen stimulation process and aids recovery

When Will I See Results from Julaine?

Julaine is a gradual collagen stimulator, so results develop progressively rather than immediately.

• Some improvement may be visible in the days following treatment as initial swelling settles
• Noticeable improvements in skin quality, texture and firmness typically develop within a few weeks
• Significant improvement is usually seen at two to three months as collagen regeneration continues to build
• Results develop subtly and authentically over 6 to 12 weeks, revealing firmer, smoother and more radiant skin
• Results can last up to two years depending on the individual, the areas treated and lifestyle factors

Most patients benefit from one to three sessions depending on their concerns and desired outcome. Dr Karim will advise on the most appropriate treatment plan at your consultation and review your progress at follow-up appointments.

Who May Not Be Suitable for Julaine?

Suitability for Julaine should always be assessed during a full consultation with Dr Karim. Treatment may not be appropriate if you have active skin infections, open wounds or compromised skin in the treatment area, a known allergy to poly-L-lactic acid or any components of the product, a history of abnormal scarring, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.

When to Contact Skin Medical

Julaine is a safe and well-established collagen-stimulating treatment when performed by an experienced medical practitioner. However, please contact Skin Medical promptly if you experience:

• Swelling that is worsening rather than improving
• Severe or persistent pain
• Signs of infection such as increasing redness, heat or discharge
• Lumps that become increasingly painful or do not begin to resolve
• Any reaction that feels unusual or more severe than expected
