Look into our double chin treatments and speak to the team about the best option for you.

Causes of a double chin

A double chin may indicate weight gain, but that’s not always the case. Where your body stores fat varies, so you might have a double chin without being overweight. The likelihood increases after 30 as your skin loses collagen and elastin, reducing structural support.

If you’re unhappy with your chin’s appearance, there are various treatments available to enhance the contours and definition of your lower face. Some treatments reduce fat under your chin, while others improve the jawline or tighten neck skin.

What are the main treatments for a double chin?

Dr Sabika will advise you on the range of procedures that will give you the best results based on your individual concerns.

The main options include:

  • Fat Freezing: This treatment super-cools the fat under your chin to the point of freezing, killing a proportion of fat cells which your body then eliminates over three months.
  • Fat-Dissolving Injections: These can be effective but require numerous injections. They can sting, and swelling and discomfort may persist for weeks post-treatment. Multiple sessions are needed for optimal results.
  • Injectable Fillers: Dermal fillers injected into the chin can restore age-related volume loss, strengthen and define the chin, and improve facial symmetry. Hyaluronic acid fillers, lasting 6-12 months, are recommended for first-time users.
  • High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU): This treatment tightens the skin and stimulates collagen growth below the surface, also targeting fat cells in a double chin.
  • Radiofrequency: This treatment heats the skin to 41°C, causing collagen to tighten and fibroblasts to produce more collagen. It can also reduce fat within the skin layers.
