Aftercare for Thread Lift

Thank you for choosing Skin Medical for your Thread Lift treatment. We’re committed to ensuring you have the best recovery experience and achieve the best results. Please read through the following aftercare guidelines carefully to ensure proper healing and maximise your treatment outcome. 

What to expect after your Thread Lift treatment:

• Swelling and Redness: Mild swelling and redness at the treatment sites are common and should subside within 2–3 days. Swelling may persist for a few days depending on the area treated. 
• Slight Tenderness: You may experience mild tenderness or tightness in the treated area, which will improve over time. 
• Bruising: Bruising is possible, especially around the treated areas. This should fade within 7–10 days. 
• Firmness: You may feel some firmness or “lumps” under the skin where the threads have been placed. This is normal and should resolve as the threads integrate into the skin over the next few weeks. 
• You may feel a tight or pulling sensation — this is normal and improves over time. It is very common to feel discomfort. 
• Minor puckering or dimpling at the thread entry points may occur but usually smooths out within 7–10 days. 
• Asymmetry may be visible during healing but should balance as swelling subsides. 
• After your thread lift, it is very common to notice small entry-point dimples. These are expected and typically settle over 7–14 days. Please follow the advice below for the best results and reduce the risk of complications. Immediately after the implant it is normal to have irregularities and skin depressions that will disappear within a few days. 

Aftercare Guidelines:
✅In the case of treatment with the Definisse Threads you may use a cold pack to reduce swelling and redness on the treated area
✅Avoid Touching the Treated Area: Refrain from touching, pressing, or massaging the treated areas for at least 24 hours. This allows the threads to settle into place properly and reduces the risk of displacement.
✅ Avoid washing the treated area for at least 12 hours.
✅ Avoid touching firmly or massaging the area for 7 days.
✅Eat a liquid, or very soft food diet with little or no jay movement for 3 – 5 days post procedure
✅ Avoid exaggerated facial movements (e.g., wide yawns, chewing gum) for 3–5 days.
✅ Sleeping Position: For the first 5–7 days, sleep on your back with your head elevated on 2-3 pillows to reduce swelling and prevent pressure on the treated areas.
✅ Avoid Heat Exposure: For at least 7 days, avoid exposure to extreme heat, such as saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms, and intense exercise. Heat can increase swelling and irritation.
✅ Avoid Alcohol and Smoking: Refrain from alcohol consumption and smoking for at least 48 hours after the procedure. Both can increase the risk of swelling and bruising.
✅ No Makeup: Avoid makeup on the treated area for 24–48 hours to reduce the risk of infection and irritation. Use clean applicators when applying makeup after this period.
✅ Avoid Strenuous Exercise: For 1–2 weeks, avoid high-impact exercises such as running, heavy lifting, or any activity that could cause excessive sweating or strain on the treated area.
✅ Take paracetamol if required Avoid ibuprofen or aspirin, unless advised and use Cold Compress: If swelling or bruising occurs, apply a cold compress for 10–15 minutes at a time, 3–4 times a day, during the first 48 hours after the procedure. This helps reduce swelling and discomfort.
✅ Avoid Facials or Other Aesthetic Treatments: Do not undergo any facial treatments, such as chemical peels, laser treatments, or microdermabrasion, for 2–4 weeks after the procedure to ensure proper healing. Avoiding face and neck massages for 4 weeks
✅ Gentle Cleansing: For the first 7 days, use a gentle, non-abrasive cleanser to wash your face. Avoid any exfoliating products or harsh scrubs on the treated area.
✅ Avoid Direct Sun Exposure: Use a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen at all times, especially if your treatment area is exposed to the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure for 2–4 weeks to prevent pigmentation issues and protect the treated area.
✅ Avoid High-Frequency Treatments: Do not undergo any high-frequency treatments, such as radiofrequency, for 6 weeks post-treatment.
✅ Stay well-hydrated to support healing and collagen production (1.5 to 2.0 litres per day
✅ Do not manipulate or massage the threads unless advised.  

When to Expect Results: 
Thread lifting results are visible immediately after the procedure, with gradual improvement over the next 2–6 months as collagen stimulation occurs. We would expect to see you for a follow up appointment at 12 – 16 weeks post procedure. The lifting effect will continue to improve over time as your skin produces new collagen, helping to further tighten and firm the treated areas.
