Common side effects following dermal filler treatment may include:
These side effects are normal and should subside within a few days. However, please let us know if you experience any symptoms that feel unusual or prolonged.
✅ Do Not Touch the Treated Area: Avoid touching or pressing the treated areas for at least 24 hours after your treatment to minimise the risk of infection.
✅ Avoid makeup for at least 12 hours post-treatment to minimise the risk of infection.
✅ Do Not Massage the Treated Area: Avoid massaging or manipulating the treated areas for 48 hours to allow the filler to settle.
✅ Avoid Exercise & Heat: Avoid strenuous exercise, UV lights, saunas, steam room, hot tubs, swimming pools and tanning for 24 hours after the procedure to prevent excessive swelling and irritation.
✅ Keep your head elevated for the first few hours after treatment to reduce swelling.
✅ Sun Protection: Avoid excessive sun exposure, UV lamps, and cold outdoor activities until redness and swelling have resolved. It’s essential to wear SPF daily to protect the treated areas.
✅ Discomfort Management: If you experience any discomfort, you can take paracetamol as needed. Anti-histamines can help reduce swelling if required.
✅ Avoid Certain Medications: Do not take Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Nurofen, or other anti-inflammatory medications and alcohol for 24 hours post-procedure, as they can increase bruising and swelling.
✅Avoid the intake of significant amounts of alcohol for a period of 10 to 14 days after the treatment
✅ For Lip Injections: If you had lip filler, avoid hot drinks (coffee, tea, etc.) for 6 hours after the treatment to prevent irritation or discomfort.
✅ Cold Sores: If you have a history of facial cold sores, there is a risk of recurrence with lip treatments. Please discuss this with your practitioner beforehand, as you may be prescribed antiviral medications to reduce the risk.
✅ Do not schedule facials, facial massages, or laser treatments for two weeks after your filler treatment.
✅ Post-Treatment Healing: Mild swelling and redness are common and will resolve within 7–10 days. You can apply ice packs gently to help reduce swelling in the first 24–48 hours. If you experience any severe pain, unusual swelling, or discomfort, please contact us immediately.
✅ Results Timeline: The full effects of your dermal filler treatment will be visible once swelling subsides, typically within 7–10 days. Results vary from person to person and depending on the depth of the wrinkles or volume loss, additional treatments may be required to achieve the desired correction. We recommend follow-up appointments to assess your results and discuss any necessary adjustments.
🔹 Maintenance: Dermal fillers are temporary, and depending on the type used, results can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. To maintain your results, follow-up treatments may be needed, and we’ll be happy to discuss the best plan for you at your next visit.
